- The Cardiac Education Liaisons(EL) SIG has completed an initial survey of CNOC member institutions on how education is supported for their patients with CHD in neurodevelopmental programs. Initial findings from the responding 22 out of 50 CNOC member institutions include:
- 42% of CNOC member institutions reported having a dedicated education liaison role
- Education liaison roles vary significantly across institutions in terms of organizational placement, funding sources, and scope of responsibilities
- Funding was identified as the primary barrier to establishing education liaison positions at institutions that do not currently have them
- Resources of school related materials continue to be gathered to share between EL SIG members.
- SIG leadership supported a successful and well attended breakout session at CNOC’s 13th Annual Scientific Sessions 2025, addressing educational support for children with CHD through inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Michelle Hughes, Education Liaison Co-Chair has accepted a new position at Clevland Clinic and has stepped down as Co-Chair. We are thankful for all she has done to start the Education Liaison SIG and support its growth. The EL SIG will announce soon how the EL SIG leadership position will be filled.
- We continue to welcome Education Liaison SIG members who fulfill this role in their institution or who are interested in supporting educational outcomes for children with CHD.
