We enjoyed taking CNOC to new heights at the 13th Annual Scientific Sessions in Denver, Colorado! A total of 400 registered participants (271 in-person and 129 virtual) joined us for a week of learning, networking, and fun. Highlights included sessions dedicated to advocacy for CHD patients and families, 3 hybrid breakout sessions, moderated poster sessions, and 2 simultaneous post-conference sessions with topics including neuroimaging in CHD and Bayley assessments.
We were honored to present Dr. Frank Casey, MD with the 2025 Newburger-Bellinger Cardiac Neurodevelopmental Award. Thank you for making the travel to attend in person and share your knowledge on targeted interventions to improve neurodevelopmental outcomes in CHD, including the European perspective.

Extended congratulations to Jessica Cowin, MS for being selected as the second recipient of the CNOC Advocacy and Engagement Award. Thank you for sharing your journey (through adorable photographs) in how you became so dedicated in working with CHD patients and families. Pictured here is Jessica being presented the award by the inaugural winner Dr. Samantha Butler, Ph.D.
The Oral Abstract Presentation sessions highlighted both the diversity and all the amazing work of the CNOC community providers. Congratulations to Anjali Sadhwani, Ph.D. who presented part of her work from the first CNOC Investigator Award on establishing CHD-specific developmental growth charts for early childhood from the Bayley-4, which was chosen as the People’s choice “best of the best” abstract. Pictured below with her wonderful team of collaborators.

Please check out our recaps of the daily sessions entitled “Cardiologist’s Corner: Dispatches from the 13th Annual Scientific Sessions” by Dr. Caroline Lee available on CNOC’s official social media pages (Insta, FB, LinkedIn)
Finally, we wish to thank our CNOC program and planning committee led by Amanda Shillingford, MD & Andrea Smith, BSN as well as our Institutional Host Children’s Hospital of Colorado for the immense time and effort put into making this session an educational and fun experience. You are the reason many attendees cite this as the best conference they attend all year!

Thank you for all who attended CNOC Scientific Sessions this year! We hope the meeting excited some ongoing enthusiasm for the CNOC community. All CNOC members (physicians, clinicians, therapists, researchers, parents/patients, community members, etc.) are encouraged to continue engagement in CNOC all year long. There are many ways to become involved. Please visit our website for a list of current CNOC standing committees and SIGS. Call for new standing committee membership occurs approximately once per year. SIGS are open for new members at any time – please contact chairs for further information.
We look forward to next year’s events. Please save the date for the 14th Annual Scientific Sessions hosted by Nemour’s Children’s Hospital.
