CNOC Steering Committee Co-Chairs
Hello and welcome to CNOC’s summer update! As we eagerly count down the days until the Scientific Sessions, we want to share some exciting news.
Climbing to New Heights in Cardiac Neurodevelopmental Care and Research
The 13th Annual CNOC Scientific Sessions will be held in Denver at Institutional Host Children’s Hospital Colorado from September 17-19, followed by a post-conference on September 20. We cannot wait for this exceptional meeting, which features entire sessions on advocacy, access to care, neuroprotective strategies, siblings, and language development, amongst many other topics! Also, back by popular demand, are three exciting breakout sessions. And the newest feature this year – a post-conference “deep dive” summit, with two concurrent workshops, one focused on the Bayley Scales of Infant and Toddler Development and one focused on Neuroimaging.
Cardiac Neurodevelopmental Awards
We are thrilled to share that Professor Frank Casey has received the Newburger-Bellinger Cardiac Neurodevelopmental Award and Jessica Cowin has received the Cardiac Neurodevelopmental Advocacy and Engagement Award. Both Frank and Jessica have made exceptional contributions to our field that have advanced the care for individuals with congenital heart disease. We honor their work during the Scientific Sessions with the Cardiac Neurodevelopmental Awards Session on Thursday, September 18.
CNOC Investigator Award
This year we opened our second CNOC Investigator Award opportunity. We have received some amazing applications and look forward to announcing the award recipients following completion of the review process.

Our newest Special Interest Group, led by Stacie Boyle MSN and Julie Gardner MSN, is off to a running start! If you are a data coordinator or data entry specialist interested in learning more, visit this page.
Also, please keep an eye out for a survey they will be distributing soon for all those contributing to CNOC’s Clinical Registry data entry!
Partnering with Conquering CHD
CNOC and Conquering CHD hosted a fantastic webinar in April entitled The Heart-Brain Connection: Supporting Neurodevelopment in CHD. If you missed it, you can view it here.
Wishing you all a very happy summer!
